Working directly with the flight crew on the diagnosis and rectification of problems.Part of a 70 strong team to carry out a "section 41" modification to a Boeing 747 Jumbo both at Schiphol airport in Holland for KLM airlines and for the Alsalam Aircraft Co in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Worked extensively in Vienna for Niki Laudas airline, Lauda Air, maintaining part of their fleet of Boeing 707 aircraft.Worked with Cargolux in Luxembourg carrying out structural repairs to various aircraft types and liaising directly with Boeing to instruct appropriate and approved repairs to aircraft skins following bird strikes and lightening strikes. -
Aircraft EngineerBritish Aerospace Aug 1988 - Jan 1996Early years were spent in the development and tooling production for the EAP, the predecessor and development prototype of the Typhoon.The production of tooling and components for the Tornado bomber, the Hawk and other military aircraft.Worked on the Granby project during the first Gulf War which involved the emergency replacement and strengthening of the engine bay doors of the Tornado bombers following the identification of cracks and fractures around the chaff and flare dispersal pods.Quickly moved on to final assembly of the Harrier TMk 10 Twin seat trainer aircraft for the RAF where I was in charge of the fin and tail plane assembly to the rear fuselage.Worked extensively on the Tornado F1-F3 upgrade following the disastrous actions of Airworks which resulted in a 140 million pound claim.The projects aim was to salvage as many aircraft as possible and at the same time carry out relevant upgrades to move them from F1 to F3 standard.
