CaregivingQuality Green Inc. Dec 2019 - Oct 2020Hamilton, On, CaMy wife had been progressively becoming more sick by the day. 5 years of searching for answers, the final 2 years had seen her fade to a shadow of her self. She had visited 19 Doctors in 2 years. She was dizzy, nauseous, weak and slowly loosing her eyesight, her balance and her spatial awareness. She was diagnosed with Acoustic Neuroma, a vestibular schwannoma, which was an extra large Egg Sized tumour in the middle of her brain, resting against her brain stem. February 2020 she went through a 14 hour surgery to remove (debulk) as much of the tumour as possible. The surgery was a success, however it left her deaf on the left side, she lost all balance, lost all spatial awareness and loss motor control of her entire left side. She could not walk, stand, or sit and had no control of her left hand, leg or foot. She needed to relearn how to use her hand, how to stand, how to sit and how to walk. As it was 2020, the time of Covid, All physical therapy came to an end, all at home nursing came to an abrupt stop and we were left on our own. I became the nurse, the coach, the support and the therapist overnight. She has gone on to make a full recovery and is stronger than ever, I think we both are! -
