Steven “Scooter” Downey is an independent filmmaker and the founder of True Legend Films. Steven studied film and theater at the University of Miami, but his real education began when he started making short films as a teenager. His debut film was the 2012 award-winning feature "It’s In The Blood" starring genre icon Lance Henriksen (Aliens, TV’s Millennium), praised by Dread Central as “one of the finest and most unique independent films in recent memory.”His love for cinema led him to Los Angeles, where he discovered his spiritual calling to tell stories that renew and challenge our culture. His company, True Legend Films, partners with innovators, iconoclasts, and the "true legends" of industry, culture, faith, and film. TLF produced the 2016 TV documentary "Secret Believers" for Open Doors USA. The film tells the story of Christian believers who are persecuted for their faith, and was featured on the Discovery Channel.Since then, Steven directed, produced, and edited the the 2019 feature documentary "Hoaxed", a groundbreaking look at the fake news phenomenon. Called a “masterpiece” by Scott Adams, the film is an insider’s view of media misinformation, told by those who have been accused of spreading it themselves.Other credits include directing, producing and editing Crossfire (2019), a feature documentary about policing, brutality, race, and law; editing the feature documentary "Man in the Arena" (2020) starring Jon Voight; and producing the Fox Nation doc series hit "Tucker Carlson Originals". an in-depth documentary series where Carlson and his team cover our culture's most important stories. "Patriot Purge", his debut film for the series, was the year’s most talked-about documentary.He’s made viral videos and branded content for the biggest names in media and politics, and worked as a story consultant, writer, and development producer for fiction films.Steven currently resides in Nashville, TN with his wife and two sons, where they attend an Orthodox Christian parish.
