Amrun Village Project

I spent 4 months with the tendering team for Goodline estimating scope to design andconstruct a 700 man camp under the direction of Bechtel for Rio Tinto. We won thecontract which won the next challenge of constructing such a camp in a remote location.

My Direct involvement was the construction of 3 x 2m wide and approx. 3km long yard conveyors, all related Pulley’s, drive motors,Svendborg brake systems, weightometers, etc. Along with completion workson the train unloading system including cell, trunnions, chutes, dustcollection system and apron feeders.

This project included the construction of approx. 60 well pads andcompletion works on two major hub stations in the Roma/Injune region incentral Queensland. This included installation of E Houses, Separators,flares, Pipe Stands and Brackets and all related pipe work and tie in’s. Tocomplete a quality product strict quality procedures were followed withflange management and weld traceability being of high importance,followed by weld testing and pressure testing.

The Crushing plant upgrade at McArthur River saw the construction of a Primary Jawcrusher and apron feeder load out system, with a secondary cone crushingsystem after passing through a multi level screen building. The relatedconveyor systems were approx. 1.8m wide and ran over approx. 3 km.

Over the 2 years I worked on this project with Goodline a gained a greatdeal of knowledge and experience in the construction industry and waswhere I developed the skills required to become a good supervisor.

demolition of ScreenBuildings, Dust Collectors and conveyor lines at BHP’s major PortFacility. Safety was paramount on this particular job. Asbestos waspresent, weights unknown for critical lifts and rusted walkways deemedmajor hazards that were managed well by the whole team.
