As I am an electrician by trade. Employed as an Operator/Maintainer for the site, which entailed operations on 11 x V20 gas Engine units that each produced a bit over 3MWs each of power to the grid, which we could only produce 30MWs to the grid, so we had only 10 units running at once. The site had many hats to fill, OH&S on site had to be followed and address according to regulations.Preventive maintenance was completed on all 11 Gas engine units as per running hours schedule.Call outs on site as a 1 week on and off system.Preventive maintenance on the site as a whole, example, site transformer maintenance, gas skid yearly inspection, hazardous area inspection, gas compressor inspections, instrumentation inspections, site main incoming coalescer gas fillers, yearly change out and vessel inspection, units oil batch counter devices, site earth grid inspection yearly to ensure step potentials were all in order.In this position I had to plan for yearly outages with Ergon and vise versa, as there were certain instruments and devices on both sides that could only be done while site was down, and Ergon had shut the site down to do their HV switching on breakdowns.HV switching to units on site, depending on repairs to generators or maintenance to V20 Gas Engines.I have a Hazardous area ticket, I only did repairs for like to like as needed, but mainly organized each devices, sheets that had a checklist on what to check for contractors, with names and numbers for each.. General preventative maintenance on V20 gas units x 11 on hourly routine, which comprised of, spark plug replacement, Gas valve replacements, valve clearance, gasket replacements, water pump seal replacements, Engine air filters and breathers, spark plug sleeve o ring replacements etc. I have learnt a lot from this site, as I am a sparky i completed a lot of mechanical jobs on site that normally not many sparkies would do.

The work site was a bio fuel distillation, which converted red sorghum into useable fuel plus the off product of the process is used for animal feed, wet cake and molasses..I was employed as an electrical maintenance worker.I was on call 1 week on and 1 week off, it sometimes did not end up that way.As the site was new, there were many nights of breakdowns and electrical installation issues, as fault finding was a crucial part on running the site. Many installation flaws that were corrected from initial installation. So much experience into bio fuel production, as we had to learn operations indirectly, to fault find certain issues going on with the site, as without this knowledge, fault finding would have been a stab in the dark.
