I am a Louisville, KY native and a graduate of the University of Louisville. I majored in violin performance; to this day, I still perform in professional orchestras as a hobby/side career. A few years ago in 2016, I began an "unexpected journey" in the health IT infrastructure/software space with my current company, Waystar. I have continued to learn and grow while with Waystar. As a result, I have a broad and varied range of experience and skills, which you will see if you read the rest of my profile!And overview of some technical skills: In the past, I completed a course of Code Louisville learning full stack JavaScript (HTML, XML, CSS, JSON, an JavaScript). I also hold the Cisco CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate); I have knowledge and skills in the arena of routing and switching. I am also currently learning SQL and how to be an Excel super user. Being a professionally trained and active musician, I have skills that put me ahead of many. This includes being able to solve problems (overcoming difficult passages in music), communicating with others, and working within a team to effectively achieve a common goal. Last but not least, being a musician has bestowed a rigid sense of discipline and attention to detail that I am able to apply to all avenues of life.

Our system takes in client files of different types - EPIC, XML, HL7, CSV, etc, and then turns them into statements that get sent to a print vendor, which are printed and mailed. These files often time fail and I have to figure out why via reading the JSON logs, and apply edits or ask for new files. I also have to resubmit files through our SFTP server. I also troubleshoot payment variances - our bank will get money in that we either were not expecting to based off of processing status, or the reverse - we will not get money that WAS expected. I have to compare different sets of data in order to make consolidated lists and to drill down to the exact transactions causing the problem. I am also responsible to correcting the issues so that our accountants can reconcile the variances to clear them. Essentially, I work with patient payments/statements relating to data integrity issues. -

Our system uses the data format of ANSI X12; I am familiar with how to read and analyze files types such 837, 825, 270, 271, 277, and 999.

Providers use our system to enroll to be able to exchange data (such as claims, remits, and eligibility) between themselves and the insurance companies they are billing. This requires enrollment in most cases; insurance companies are frequently changing their processes. Without a team to take note of, research, and adapt to these changes, providers would be left on their own. I would document findings on process changes, communicate with payers/intermediaries, and then do required internal set up in our system to accommodate those changes. I would also write new instructions for providers to follow.As part of the internal set up to accommodate changes, I would have to do things like create variables that can pass information along to fillable fields in PDF forms, and also create conditional questions that would pass different information to these fields depending on what input was given by the provider.
