AIX Network Installation Management – Many IBMers and customers configured their first NIM server with my NIM Basic slides. My later advanced material covered updates, migrations and advanced scripting techniques, such as my get_mksysb script.AIX TCPIP Network Performance, physical and virtual Ethernet, VIO Server and Shared Ethernet Adapter, I spent two hours with a customer last month, in their environment, on the content from my network_performance_sea_components slide deck.In 2014 I took a Linux on Power focus, with multi-year traveling workshop exercises for SUSE SLES, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Network install on PowerVM, using bootp, dhcp, tftp, grub2, http and kickstart protocols. I automated all this in the sk_rh_v20_pvm script, with one set of flags for server setup, and a different set of flags to enable client install. In 2015-2016, making use of http and kickstart, I found in PowerKVM that a single command, virt-install (pg 5) could create a KVM guest virtual machine and start the kickstart Red Hat install. Almost immediately after install, that guest could virsh migrate (pg 23) to another PowerKVM machine. Finally, that Red Hat PowerKVM guest could become an install server for Red Hat onto a PowerVM LPAR.In 2017-2019 I started into Kubernetes platforms, first IBM Cloud Private, and then transitioning to Red Hat OpenShift. For Technical University Fall 2019, I built a double lab for OpenShift 3.11 on Power. Part 1 was mostly node preparation and install of OpenShift on Red Hat, on a Power LPAR. Part 2 gave students some practice with github, cloning a public repository, deploying a Ruby app from it, modifying the app, and redeploying it. These labs were well received. But I’m still just scratching the surface of kubernetes.2019-2020, I have taken a new field role as Power Client Technical Specialist for Utility and Telco markets. The focus here is very much Power Enterprise servers, PowerVC, SAP and SAP HANA.
