As a Senior at the University of South Dakota, I am pursuing a BS in Computer Science, a program that is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. My goal is to apply my skills and knowledge to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions.I have a strong interest in web development and have learned HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. I have programmed a contemporary website for a small business owner using these languages. I learned a lot about coding static websites using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, such as how to optimize redundant CSS3 code. I debugged ineffective JavaScript code and fixed it. Using JavaScript, I made the UI dynamic by programming it to listen for user scrolling, making the navigation bar disappear when scrolling down and reappear when the user scrolls up. I attempted to allow the user to scroll smoothly from one frame of the webpage to another so there wouldn’t be any unintended viewing screens where text was cut off. I also incorporated dynamic slideshows to display the company’s work which switched slides automatically using timers in Javascript. As well as clickable links and links that allowed the customers to find the information they needed as well as contact the business owner. Furthermore, they were able to click on links that took them to different areas on the website such as a particular service.Additionally, I am proficient in programming in Python and Java and have completed several courses and assignments using these languages. I have used APIs from tech companies such as Twitter, Spotify, and Instagram to automate tasks for me using scripts. I have experimented with libraries such as Pandas, PyTorch, and NumPy.Besides my academic achievements, I have also gained valuable work experience in the retail sector. I have worked as a cashier, a sandwich artist, and a retail associate at Arby’s, Subway, and Walmart, respectively. Through these roles, I have gained a deep understanding of how businesses operate while developing skills such as customer service, communication, and teamwork, as well as adaptability and reliability. Throughout these roles, I always lead my roles with customer satisfaction at the forefront of my priority list as it is the foundation of any successful business. And that is what I intend to maintain while developing as an industry professional.I am passionate about learning and growth. I am a lifelong learner.
