• Most recently supported the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in their effort to integrate and utilize Virtual Health (VH) technologies through leveraging DoD data sources to create interactive dashboards within Tableau.• Assisted in creating Tableau dashboards that provided BUMED leadership with metrics such as VH encounters, patient movements, MEDEVAC events, and other statistics that allowed data-driven decision making for VH budgets and policies.• These metrics and dashboards also illustrated the impact of VH across the enterprise and how VH could potentially reduce military costs in terms of both dollars and duty days saved.• Deployed and provided system engineering and functional support for a new financial accounting system (the General Fund Enterprise System [GFEBS]) across 30 BUMED medical treatment facilities (MTFs). • Coordinated logistics for GFEBS introductory conferences, data reconciliation meetings, and training sessions for every MTF across both CONUS and OCONUS locations. • Supported Defense Health Agency (DHA) and BUMED consolidation of the Defense Health Enterprise - ERP system for end-to-end transactional level transparency in order to provide accurate, reliable, and real-time decision support across the BUMED enterprise.• SAP ERP and GFEBS business functional deployment specialist leading on-site support, training, guidance, documentation, and new processes for the client and end-users within BUMED as new systems go-live across the DHA, Navy, and BUMED during their transition.• Supported change management strategies and plans, which included organizational readiness assessments, sponsorship management, governance compliance, user provisioning, training, and communications.• Created a Microsoft Access database and dashboard to perform analytics and risk identification on the remaining legacy financial data and migrating the data to a new ERP accounting system.

My roles and responsibilities were as follows:• Assisted the Department of Defense (DoD) improve patient safety at their medical treatment facilities by managing patient safety data and strategizing best practices across the enterprise.• Managed a large database of patient safety data that includes sensitive information on patients, DoD hospitals, and performed medical procedures to track medical mishaps across the DoD.• Used Microsoft Excel and Tableau to perform data analytics and visualizations on medical accidents and hospital acquired infections to track the performance of DoD hospitals and offer recommendations on best medical practices.• Created publications on specific areas of medical errors that cause harm to patients in order to distribute important knowledge on patient risk factors, medical toolkits, national hospital standards, and best prevention actions.• Created and gave regular presentations on the status of the Military Health System to DoD leadership in regards to infection rates, patient death and harm rates, surgical errors, and medical accidents.

As a senior analyst for the Customer Engagement: Data Management Team. My responsibilities were as follows:• Supported the DoD in keeping financial records accurate for budgeting and business spending purposes in a DoD Systems and Applications Products in Data Processing (SAP) environment. • Investigated financial data tables using SQL and SAS programming languages to tackle inaccurate records.• Assisting in the creation of custom reports for client financial records, ensuring an accurate and complete lifecycle of any business transaction. • Ensured the integrity and quality of client master data by performing both individual and large volume maintenance on client SAP records via standard SAP transaction codes. • Oversaw complete lifecycle of several projects, enhancing client inventory and business data tables including testing, solution implementation, and sustainment.

Assisted technicians and graduate students while also performed own projects at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Mainly explored the relationship between the stress hormones of the immune system and Breast Cancer. Cancer patients are stricken with much stress, which past research has shown to effect tumor angiogenesis. Projects were formed to study this relationship between stress and tumor angiogenesis. One project involved studying the effects of anti-angiogenic therapy on mice injected with breast cancer. This project was to explore the effects of the therapy while also determining if the levels of stress hormones norepinephrine and normetanephrine were affected. Most recent project involved measuring stress hormones in mice afflicted with breast cancer and tumor growth while also stressing these mice via different social isolation techniques.

The goal of this internship focused on finding aptamers that could bind to the protein albumin. This would allow doctors to observe blood samples easier by filtering out albumin to make observing the smaller proteins easier in blood.

The goal of this internship was to express brain proteins that would later be determined for use as possible biomarkers for Sickle Cell patients. These biomarkers would be used as a possible way to evaluate the damage of a stroke and help estimate the probability of another consecutive stroke.
