  • Snapav
    Project Manager Ii
    Snapav Jul 2014 - May 2016
    Charlotte, North Carolina, Us
Blended role of product and project management. This allowed me to take products all the way through the product life cycle as well as developing ways to increase revenue on existing products. Ran up to 12 concurrent product development projects pertaining to audio speakers and subwoofers. The largest project constituted over $8M in new revenue for the company with the smallest being approximately $500K in revenue. Had to ensure that these projects stayed on schedule, on budget and on spec coming up with creative ways to accomplish this. Had to decide which projects to develop, what features to bring to market and how to market the product in a crowded market place. Launched the following projects at SnapAV:Episode Architectural Speaker line: this consisted of an entire new architectural speaker line which was developed and launched in under 9 months. This project consisted of 18 speakers which are used in a variety of applications in both residential / commercial settings. Pre-Construction Brackets: Consisted of designing a new bracket which is a space claim when homes are built which was easy and quick for dealers to install, plus survived the abuse when the drywallers finished the walls and ceilings of the house. Developed a custom attachment mechanism between the drywall ring and metal arms which span a stud by which attaches and remotes without any tools. The previous designs were hated by the dealers and this new design has been well received.Active 2 Channel Soundbar with Wireless SubwooferAll Weather Signature Architectural SpeakersLandscape Demonstration KitDistributed Product - CleanBox ProCommercial Speaker Tile Bridge

    Davidson, North Carolina, Us
Product Engineer in the lifecycle engineering team for air compressors. Specifically supporting both legacy and new rotary air compressors. Project include developing a test bench to determine startup torque requirements, reducing cost of existing designs by utilizing galvinized steel brackets instead of powder coated brackets and eliminating fitup issues on the plant floor through design changes in the compressor packages.
  • Ingersoll Rand
Lifecycle Engineer / Accelerated Development Program
    Ingersoll Rand Jul 2013 - Jan 2014
    Davidson, North Carolina, Us
12 month Accelerated Development Rotation. Projects include competitive benchmark testing versus a competitor’s air compressor, VA/VE projects including switching valves from machined to cast and reducing welding / painting operations on several support brackets. Supported global engineering changes including reducing manufacturing difficulties in the design, changing materials to correct customer complaints and tolerance issues. Created a custom program to analyze COPQ raw data from the field into meaningful results.
  • Trane
    Product Engineer
    Trane Jul 2012 - Jul 2013
12 month Accelerated Development Rotation. VA/VE projects including interactions with NPD on an in-sourcing project. Lead two VA/VE projects reducing manufacturing cost of shell and tube heat exchanges by reducing the tubesheet and creating a new process to utilize finely stranded power wire for compressor wiring. Lead supplier price negotiation utilizing should-costing software, resulting in significant company savings. Participated with in-sourcing project for control panels, resulting in improved control of development process and a multi-million dollar cost savings.
  • Valspar
    Engineering Co-Op
    Valspar May 2009 - May 2012
    Cleveland, Oh, Us
Co-op Project Engineer, 4 co-op semesters completed plus work as an independent contractor providing project management and mechanical engineering support services between co-op terms as well as CAD and mechanical expertise.Between co-op terms when not working at a Valspar site, I continue to work for Valspar as an independent contractor while also taking classes at Georgia Tech. Independent contractor tasks have included providing expertise for a custom microcontroller system I developed during the 5/11 to 8/11 coop that monitors Valspar pilot plant data and creating custom AutoCAD drawings.Created a custom microcontroller and software system to record a variety of field data including temperature and relative humidity; created custom designs in Autodesk Inventor to remedy specific site issues and had the custom fabrication created ranging from custom stands for processing equipment to improving ergonomic/efficiency of a process; worked as a project manager/engineer on a variety of projects for improving safety and ergonomic issues for an extruding process; evaluated a multimillion dollar site construction project and site improvement project.Worked as a project manager/engineer on a variety of projects from increasing site security at the plant to expanding a department of the plant's facility; coordinated activities of outside contractors; surveyed and documented locations for various safety concerns, such as confined space entry. Independently created a new drawing standard for AutoCAD drawings for all corporate-wide process and instrumentation drawings to follow. This improved the standardization of the drawings that were created across the various company sites and improved drafting time because of the various tool palettes I independently created.
  • Club Car
    Engineering Co-Op
    Club Car Aug 2008 - Dec 2008
Worked as an integral part of the engineering team in the product testing department performing a variety of tasks from testing maximum forces and torques on a steering column to life cycle tests on brake cables. I wrote reports and made presentations at the completion of every test for the engineering team. At the completion of the co-op, I prepared and delivered a presentation for the engineering team and Club Car vice president discussing all of my test reports and the work that was done during the semester.
