I am an experienced and highly-motivated Software Engineer who loves solving the tough problem. I have significant work experience with C++, Java, and Python. I have also enjoyed teaching myself other programming languages outside of my day-to-day work, such as Swift and Kotlin. While the majority of my professional experience has been with backend services, I also have worked as a Full Stack engineer, using Django, Ember, and React.js.In talking with a co-worker, he brought up that one of my strengths has been in rapid prototyping. It's not something I had considered specifically before, but I wholeheartedly agree. I love to dive in and try out a possible solution. Putting in the effort to know whether a wider-scale development effort would be fruitful. Try and fail fast as opposed to having endless meetings to come up with the perfect solution.Let's talk and see what we can come up with together!Career Accomplishments:* Short Term Stand In -- Initiative to allow PayPal to accept merchant transactions during periods of database maintenance. This initiative was the first step towards providing 5 9s (99.999%) availability.* Payments Isolation -- Creation of a service around PayPal's core transaction fulfillment code. This allowed for isolation of releases, independent capacity flex-up, and reduction of interdependencies with internal client teams.* Pricing Replatforming -- Reimplementation of Fees and Foreign Exchange (FX) calculation code from C++ server to Java REST server. This also included ramping mechanisms to separate use of new code from forcing clients to reintegrate with a new server, providing clients the flexibility to migrate on their schedule.
