As the manager for the Systems Engineering - Operations group, I oversee a team of remote-work IT engineers focused on monitoring server availability, security remediation / patch management, and automation of IT operational tasks. Our team sees heavy use of tools like Ansible & GitHub to take advantage of DevOps workflows in the IT Operations space.

Originally, my role was focused on Windows systems engineering and filling in where I can for technologies I was familiar with. However, as I developed several new processes and technology improvements, I received 2 promotions in 3 years (and many more responsibilities) as recognition for my accomplishments. Now as the lead systems engineer for the clinical infrastructure side of the organization, my daily tasks involve architecting and deploying new backend infrastructure for both on-prem and cloud environments, writing and maintaining automation scripts, and troubleshooting systems operations issues as the final tier of support for all existing technologies owned by the systems engineering team. As a known leader in the Information Technology department, I also report on budgetary requirements, regularly interview new candidates, mentor existing staff, provide recommendations for career growth and staffing needs, and act as a translator between the business and engineering teams.

I was brought onto NanoString Technologies to modernize their Windows and network systems to scale with their expected growth after going public with their IPO. As NanoString more than tripled in size over four years, I drove the implementation of a wide variety of new technologies across nine new international and domestic office space expansions. My current technology focus is in Windows automation, Nimble storage, and Cisco network engineering. A typical day's workload involves working with business stakeholders to determine requirements, designing and recommending solutions to meet budgetary needs, then implementing best-fit solutions as the lead engineer of a team of eight engineers & administrators. In between projects, I work to reduce the administrative cost of IT operations through scripts (PowerShell) or process improvements and act as the final tier of support for existing technologies.

Provided end-to-end design, implementation, and support for Small to Medium Business as related to the Information Technology field. Worked with new and existing clients to design new systems to meet their growing demands, as well as supported existing hardware and software. Designed, implemented, and supported almost all aspects of IT, including network infrastructure, server architecture, web design, custom software, data protection and management, and new office construction designs and low voltage cabling needs. Worked with vendors, such as Dell and CDW, to purchase first and third-party systems for clients. Worked with medical clients to support and strengthen their HIPAA compliance. As the lead systems engineer, I have my hands in almost all of the company's projects and provide the highest tier of support in the case of high priority or particularly difficult issues.

Provided 24/7 on-call support for in-house developed software issues. Provided hardware support for the company's IT systems. Maintained in-house developed ERP system and designed additional modules for employee scheduling that provided staffing recommendations as well as a bank statement balancing module to reconcile credit/debit statements.
