Steven F. Mayer is the CEO of Iron Horse Acquisition Corp. and Dedication Capital, LLC, privately held investment vehicles, and is the chairman and co-founder of 9Squared, LLC, a LLM- and RAG-based AI-driven platform that is transforming security for residential, commercial and law enforcement applications. He also serves as a senior advisor to the private credit group of TCW, a $200 billion investment complex, and to Red Arts Capital, a private equity firm focused on supply chain investments.From 2022 until resigning in 2023, Mr. Mayer was the Executive Chairman of Grifols, SA, a publicly traded global healthcare company based in Barcelona, Spain. Grifols is one of the world’s largest producers of plasma-derived medicines, primarily to treat life-threatening diseases, and is also a leader in the global diagnostics market for transfusion medicine. Grifols, which had 27,000 employees, major production facilities in six countries, and patients in 110 countries, generated 2022 revenues of EUR6.1 billion. The company’s entire management team and workforce reported directly or indirectly to Mr. Mayer in this full-time executive leadership role. Until retiring in early 2018, Mr. Mayer was the Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Global Private Equity, and chairman of the Investment Committee of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., a private investment firm with $45 billion of capital under management. In that capacity, Mr. Mayer oversaw acquisitions and management of controlling and minority equity interests in companies, most requiring significant strategic or operational change, in the technology, telecom, health care, consumer products, manufacturing, business services, retail, and other industries, primarily in the US and Europe.Before joining Cerberus in 2002, Mr. Mayer was an executive with various private investment firms, beginning his private equity career with Apollo Advisors, L.P. in 1991. Prior to that time, Mr. Mayer was an attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate finance. In addition to 9Squared. Mr. Mayer is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Pace Industries Holdings, LLC, a large US aluminum die caster. Mr. Mayer is a former member of the Boards of Directors of over 30 other companies in a wide variety of industries. Mr. Mayer received his AB, cum laude, from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and his JD, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He has taught courses at those universities and at LUISS, in Rome.
