Vista panels is a composite door and panel manufacturer. As a Health and Safety Advisor, my responsibility is to keep the working environment safe for all employees and visitors. Whilst also ensuring that I do my part for the environment and encouraging sustainable processes.My day-to-day duties are but not limited to, ensuring that all employees and visitors follow PPE guidelines, I lead new employee inductions and provide adequate information about the company processes. I ensure employees have been adequately trained before using any machinery and equipment. I assist with implementations of SOPs, completion of risk assessments for various tasks and completion of accident and incident reports. I also assist with disciplinary procedures when safety processes are not followed.I am currently working towards my NEBOSH, which will give more insight and depth within the health and safety profession.

As a machine operator, I was part of a 2-person team operating an EMBA which would process 80,000 sheets of cardboard within a 12-hour period.The EMBA processed varied sized sheets of cardboard through a hopper, which then got cut, shaped and printed to order. While working as an operator everything was planned to the minute to get maximum productivity, while also guaranteeing a high standard of quality.The role involved programming the machine, changing ink’s and print stereos for every individual order. Regular machine clean downs were also done which involved climbing within the EMBA and removing any blockages, waste build ups, washing down the print section and changing print blades. Following SOPs was a must as any mistake would impact on productivity and possibly shut down the machine for long periods, more crucially ensuring that health and safety in the workplace was followed. A 5S system was used to keep standards high and targets met.

As a Production Manager I used strong communication to deal with staff management ensuring that I managed in a way that all KPI’s was achieved, and staff were treated fairly. Quality control was also a big part of my position, as I continually strived in keeping production waste as minimal as possible. However, occasionally there are faults, therefore, I would diagnose and rectify issues in the quickest possible manner and at minimal cost and disruption. Additionally, I created SOP’s and implemented a 5S system to reduce any unnecessary issues. I also set positive examples to ensure that colleagues followed all HSE regulations, as it can be dangerous if safety procedures are not followed correctly.As a Production Manager my day-to-day tasks included the responsibility of ensuring employee’s well-beings and having regular performance related one to one’s. I also dealt with stock levels, time keeping, profit and losses, production planning, procurement such as silicone/resin and dealing with customer orders/queries this involves communicating with customers/retailers via telephone and emails. I would strive to give great customer service, as I am usually the first point of contact for potential customers. By this I consistently build good networks and great relationships with new and existing customers.
