At Barrios Technology, I am a systems integration engineer under the NASA Human Spaceflight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) Contract, in which I worked with the system integration of the International Space Station (ISS). In this role, I was the backup lead for the external configuration and mass properties (eCAMMP) Team. My work includes using 3D CAD software Siemens NX analyze the external configuration of the ISS in 3D CAD space by installing new payloads/visiting vehicles, capturing FOV imagery, and compiling mass properties Excel spreadsheets of station. For the upload/download of the CAD models, I utilized Git to pull and push the files from/to the master repository. As the backup lead, I have led various weekly tag-up meetings and training sessions with the team, in addition to being the team’s technical primary point of contact for NASA and international partners.

Virtually collaborated with the Safety & Mission Assurance group (Quality Assurance) of NASA employees and outside contractors to analyze pressure vessels and mechanical pressure systems of facilities at Stennis Space Center to ensure compliance with safety policies and guidelines. The main project that I completed during this internship was designing a Mathcad worksheet that determines the maximum allowable working fluid and gas pressure and remaining life due to corrosion/fatigue using API 579 (FFS) guidelines. Furthermore, I analyzed the Pressure and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) of piping systems at the propulsion test stands at Stennis Space Center to determine open/lock configurations.

Providing mechanical support for Pulsed Fission Fusion (PuFF) at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center ER-64, a propulsion concept being developed at Marshall Space Flight Center that has the potential for travel to Mars and interstellar travel. Designed various components using SolidWorks for PuFF subsystems. The analysis was done using Excel and structural simulations were run using COMSOL. In addition the PuFF propulsion system, I also worked on developing a new metal additive manufacturing technology from the ground up by designing the system in SolidWorks and running electromagnetic thermal analysis in COMSOL.

Calculated local stresses and forces at various locations of the Boeing RC-135 aircraft through hand calculation and comparison to material/fastener allowables Also computed allowable loads through complex structures using NASTRAN/Patran finite element modeling software. Created Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to calculate cross-sectional area properties and different forms of stress analysis calculations using VBA. Reviewed engineering drawings through Siemens NX CAD software using the Siemens Teamcenter data management tool. Formulated technical reports of stress analysis results for professional clients and customers.
