At Smart Systems we are a small team achieving big things and this means doing everything to get the job done. My role here is the Solutions Architect for the Water Source project but I am also leading the development team, looking after the Business Analysis, assisting in the design of the new hardware, designing the new control system and maintaining the units that are in the field. Watersource Australia (https://watersourceaustralia.com.au) is a fantastic initiative where we are developing technology to bring clean fresh drinking water to people without the need for large, centralised infrastructure. Best of all it is all run and monitored via the Internet of Things (IoT) and we have just finished successful trials in Gorthleck in Scotland and Charleville in Queensland. There are units running in Dilli, East Timor (https://watersourceaustralia.com.au/dili-east-timor) as part of the Bee Lafaek Project (https://www.facebook.com/beelafaek. These units are not only providing clean water, but also reducing the waste from single-use bottles and providing an industry which supports local kids.The processing back-end is hosted on AWS and makes use of the serverless capabilities of AWS Lambda, AWS Timestream, AWS DynamoDatabase, AWS Aurora and AWS S3. We use AWS CloudFront, AWS Route53 and AWS WAF to distribute the web application.

This role is multi-faceted encompassing Project Management / Solution Architecture and Delivery Management and responsibilities included;• End to End Project delivery from business case scoping, requirements definition, solution design, strategy development, implementation and user acceptance.• Participating in the design of solutions; including the development of an RFID solution for a large logistics company.• Monitoring and reporting on project budgets, project resoruce planning on Agile projects; including the facilitation of scrum meetings.• Stakeholder management and working with business to improve operations.

My time with AXA Tech encompassed many roles including Project Manager, Manager of the Architecture team and Regional AS400 SME. During this time I was responsible for the design and implementation of regional AS400 infrastructure solution to support AXA business in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines. I was also the Lead Architect for the move of the Melbourne based server infrastructure; including 2 x AS400 systems and 120 Intel / Linux servers from Melbourne to Singapore. I managed the Architecture team which consists of 6 Architects and developed a Risk Management Strategy and formulated the 2009 – 2012 Infrastructure Strategy Vision. I managed the migration of 10 regoipnal AS400 partitions from Hong Kong to Melbourne, including the design and implementation of all of the infrastructure and cabling for both the production and DR sites. Other projects included the implementation of Envision environment for SOX compliance, a PGP encryption project and Mircosoft Exchange support projects.My roles within AXA Tech have required me to liaise with technical experts, senior management and consult with people at all levels within the organisation to gather and document business requirements and determine user requirements; including people in mainland China, Thailand and Malaysia.

KCS was involved in the design, development and implementation of the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS – http://www.NLIS.mla.com.au) which is Australia’s scheme for the identification and tracing of livestock using approved radio frequency identification devices (RFID) and the mandatory reporting all movements of cattle between properties via the web. During this time KCS was contracted by or worked with numerous organisations including Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), Department of Primary Industries in Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland and numerous abattoirs, Stock Agents and Sale-yards across Australia.Project Manager / Application Architect / Developer / Infrastructure Architect• Participated in the design of the NLIS database and web interface; including the specification of the XML / SOAP interface.• Designed and developed common Dynamic Linked Libraries (DLL’s) which were used by software developers across Australia to provide a uniform method of communicating with the NLIS database.• Designed and built electronic relays that allowed enabled software to control hardware devices such as electronic relays, switches and lights. • Consulted with individuals, organisations, companies and regulatory bodies on the best way to incorporate the NLIS including implementation of software, hardware and / or business process change.• Hosted overseas industry groups and delivered presentations to industry groups in Australia to drive process and cultural change throughout the industry. • Design, developed and managed the implementation of integrated solutions including software, hardware and business process change for abattoirs, sale-yards and cattle producers to enable compliance and deliver benefits from electronic cattle identification.

Treasury Services is a Queensland State Government department and the role was a development / consulting role designing and developing Lotus Notes applications. Responsibilitiesconsulting with the business to scope requirements, designing / building applications, developing test plans for user acceptance, preparing training materials, delivering application training and presenting final solutions for user acceptance.

Dialog is an IT services company and the role was a dual role as the manager of the development team (10+ people) and as the Senior Lotus Notes Consultant / SME. The responsibilities included pre-sales consulting, specification of requirements, team leadership / coaching / mentoring, trouble shooting, designing / building applications, presenting final solutions for user acceptance and managing the team budget.

Logical is an IT services company and the role was primarily a management role leading a national team of (20+ people). The responsibilities included managing team budget, leave register, hiring staff, pre-sales consulting, resolving conflict, specification of requirements, team leadership / coaching / mentoring, trouble shooting and presenting final solutions for user acceptance.

Responsibilities included the pre-sales consulting with customers, designing / developing Lotus Notes applications, design and maintenance of web sites, systems administration and trouble-shooting technical issues. Clients included North Mining, Kodak Eastman, Business Computers of Australia, Netbridge and others.Key achievements• Almanac – CRM System designed and built in Lotus Notes including integration without hand-held PDA’s.• Designed and maintained web sites for Freedom Furniture, FAI Insurance, Kwik Kopy and HIH Insurance.

Responsibilities included the establishment of the development team from start-up, hiring of staff, mentoring and coaching staff, pre-sales consulting, application design and development, account management, project management, conducting user training and delivery of project outcomes and user sign-off and acceptance. Clients included Mallesons Stephens Jacques, Walt Disney, Salvation Army, Corrs Chambers Westgarth and othersKey achievements• Rutter Customer Database – Client Relationship Management (CRM) application developed for Vantage Systems.• Safety, Health and Environment Database - Developed for Orica.

The Strehlow Research Foundation houses a large collection of indigenous objects, artifacts and information. The foundation required an application to catalogue items in the Collection as well as record information from various documents, manuscripts and photographs using the aboriginal Aranda language for data entry. The catalogue was built using Lotus Notes with the Data Entry and Dictionary applications built using Visual Programmer or ViP. Responsibilities included the meeting with staff and researchers to gather requirements, application design and development, project management, conducting user training, delivery of project outcomes and user sign-off and acceptance.

Responsibilities included gathering requirements, preparing specifications in accordance with the Waterfall SDLC, application design / development / enhancements using ‘C’ for DOS and OS/2 Presentation Manager, research and investigation of different PC programming environments, evaluation of new development / productivity tools and the preparation / presentation of business cases to senior management.

Responsibilities included analysis of RFC’s (Requests For Change) and documentation of application enhancements, completion of program changes, testing and implementation of applications enhancements and after hours support of Check-In system which required problems response and resolution within 30 minutes.
