As the Head of Applied Research and Strategy (ARS) I play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization by leading the applied research initiatives. I am responsible for driving metric creation, moonshot incubation, market research, and data science research, aligning them with our strategic objectives that deliver both user delight and Google's growth ambitions. This role demands a blend of technical expertise in data sciences, strategic thinking, and innovation to foster groundbreaking developments in Search, Consumer Shopping and Gemini.

I lead a diverse team of Data Scientists, Product Analysts and Product Operations to solve problems related to the health and growth of Google’s flagship product. I lead high profile projects to answer the toughest questions we face not only today, but about the next 3 – 5 years. I drive decisions about the roles of our products, the investments we make, the partnerships we pursue, the go-to-market and marketing strategies we pursue, and our future path.

As the Search Business Intelligence and Strategy Lead, I work with our Product Area leaders to identify the largest strategic questions facing Search and identify hypotheses of how the product and business should respond. I also work with a deep team of Data Scientists to conduct analyses and experiments to understand our users, products, markets and ecosystems and develop comprehensive, data-backed assessments of our strategic hypotheses. I communicate these recommendations to leaders, and facilitate conversations designed to help leaders make the right decisions and guide product teams as they begin to implement these decisions.

As the BizOps Lead for Search, Assistant, and News I lead multiple BizOps project teams tackling the most important strategic problems facing these products: from how to drive growth, to how to balance our project portfolio to how to adapt in a changing regulatory environment. I also lead the annual planning process. This requires a deep understanding of the state and evolution of our users, our competitors and the broader web ecosystem. I then work with product leaders to evolve market insights into a future vision for our products, an understanding of what that future state will mean both for our users and our business, and resources allocation decisions to make the vision a reality.
