Steven started his profession career with Arthur Andersen in London in 1981, and was made partner in 1992 in the Singapore office. In 2002, Steven joined EY. Steven was made Area Managing Partner and Chairman for all of EY businesses in Asia Pacific in July 2013 and a member of EY Global Executive, the highest executive board in EY. Steven retired from EY in June 2018. Steven has considerable experiences in management, auditing, financial and business consulting, across various geographies ( UK, ASEAN ) and across various industries. Steven has also performed work for a number of government and quasi-government organizations. Some of Steven’s past experiences involved statutory audits, assisting companies in listings (IPO), profit forecasts work, due diligence exercises and financial consulting. Steven has also directed several business consulting assignments including franchise consulting and business process improvement for a number of companies in Singapore and overseas; total business planning projects for local SMEs and MNCs in a variety of Industries; and corporatization and privatization studies.He has been active in government initiatives and projects including:- Board Member of Singapore Accountancy Commission ( April 2017-March 2023 ) and SAC Board Advisor to Institute of Valuers and Appraisers Singapore Council - Board Member of the Singapore Land Authority (August 2011 - August 2013) and Audit Committee Chairman- Board member of SPRING Singapore (a government statutory body and enterprise development agency responsible for helping Singapore enterprises grow) and Chairman of Audit Committee (April 2004 – March 2009)- Member of the Singapore Economic Review (ERC) – Sub-committee on Domestic Enterprises and Deputy Chairman for the Work Group on Food and Beverages (2002)- Member of PSB SME21 Committee and Chairman of SME21 Sub-committee Two (2000)- Member of the Council for Board Diversity (2023-2024 )Steven also served on the following :- Board member of United Overseas Bank ( from 1 July 2019 ) and currently Chairman of the Nomination Committee and Audit Committee and a member of its Exco Committee and Remuneration and Human Capital Committee. - Board member of Jardine Cycle and Carriage ( from 25 April 2019 ) and Chairman of its Audit and Risk Committee - Board member of Advanced MedTech ( from 1 July 2019 )and a member of its Audit and Risk Committee. CredentialsSteven qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and is a fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
