Steven grew up on a grain/cattle property in northern NSW and has farmed himself providing a passion to improve the agricultural workplace through automation. Prior to joining John Deere in 2018 he was involved in developing automated agricultural products for companies in Australia, Canada and the U.S for 15 years as the R&D/production manager for two companies and senior research fellow at the National Centre for Engineering in Agriculture (NCEA) . The developments during this time included on farm wireless systems, machine vision systems, GPS guidance, herbicide spraying equipment and agricultural automation products. Steven has a MEPR(Electrical and Electronic) and PhD in machine vision from the University of Southern Queensland and is a senior robotics engineer in the Intelligent Solutions Group (automation and autonomy) at John Deere. He has been involved in developing machine vision applications since 1995 with numerous patents and innovation awards.
