I joined the Australian Army in 2005. I completed my trade as a Fitter/Machinist in 2007 and was posted to the 2nd/14th Lighthorse Regiment. In 2010 I transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). I was promoted to Corporal in 2013 while I was deployed on operation in the Middle East. I then served as Driver to Air Commander Australia before posting to Newcastle. My Newcastle posting enabled me to become a Subject Matter Expert on Aircraft Arrestor Systems, in particular the BAK 12/14 systems. In my role as a trade supervisor and independent inspector I regularly delivered training to subordinates, peers, and superiors alike.Key skills in my roles in Defence have been; teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and time management. As a crew chief on active military runways undertaking maintenance it was my responsibility to ensure maintenance was carried out correctly as well as safe for all airfield users. The time-critical decisions I made on a daily basis were the difference between a critical military asset being available and not.In my new role with Soldier On I look forward to helping other military members and their families thrive in their own life goals.
