Steven S. Warner Ed.D. is a Vice President, Resource Development and Executive Director of the Foundation at Polk State College. He possess expertise in leadership, powerpoint, social media, public speaking, annual giving and 34 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Steve is a focused professional who listens, learns, and leads. We worked closely together on the design for the Student Development Center at Florida Polytechnic. Steve was able to clearly and thoughtfully communicate student short-term and long-term needs on campus that the new facility could address while balancing the administrative responsibilities of his position. All meetings and communication emphasized a positive and collaborative approach to thoughtfully consider new ideas and respectfully challenge assumptions to ensure all decisions maximized value to the university. In his more recent role as a Community Liaison for Polk County Schools, we have continued our dialogue about multiple concepts and projects that could bring improvements to not only the educational system, but also the institution's relationship with local business partners. Steve's diverse professional background positions him well to recognize and navigate complexity in our dynamic community and achieve successful outcomes. Furthermore, Steve builds and maintains strategic relationships in our local community through involvement and advocacy with groups like the Central Florida Development Council and area Chambers of Commerce cultivating perpetual success. " and "I first met Dr. Warner when I was a freshman at Webber international university. As an international student, I entered campus with an added fear of so much unknown. Thankfully I earned a job as a student assistant in Dr. Warner’s office. Whenever I had questions or concerns or needed assistance navigating the university process, I knew his door was always open, and he was willing to offer advice. Having worked in his office, I witnessed his selflessness first hand. I observed as he extended himself and went the extra mile to ensure that the students were well served. Dr. Warner embodies a leader that brings a clear vision to his team, one who is forward-thinking and dedicated. Most importantly, he seeks to build his team by stewarding responsibility to each member of his staff. I had the pleasure of assisting in the planning and executing countless events and programs for his office. His willingness to delegating responsibilities and providing room for growth allowed me to gain valuable leadership, professional and lifelong skills. I was able to serve as a resident assistant under his leadership. Throughout that time, I gained enormous respect for Dr. Warner, and today I often mirror much of his leadership style when helping students in my capacity as an educator. Not only is Dr. Warner an exceptional leader, and administrator, but he is personable, friendly, and approachable, which are qualities often missing in academic spaces today. One aspect of Dr. Warner’s leadership style I truly admire is his focus on building students and staff holistically. This is evident in his equal dedication to creating programs and opportunities that addressed the academic, social, and athletic needs of the student body. One annual event he hosted was the Caribbean day. All students eagerly awaited the day as it provided a chance for Caribbean students like myself to share our culture with the broader campus. Most importantly, it was a day when, as international students, we felt reminded that we were welcome and that we were recognized and valued members of the university’s community. "
