Quvium UK Limited is developing a wearable cough monitor (Sonasure) for use by people with poorly controlled respiratory conditions and the elderly at risk of progressing to costlier assisted living arrangements due to respiratory complications. Specifically, Sonasure monitors for both general increase in cough and the characteristic reflexive cough increases that happens when the body is attempting to repair an insult to the lungs. This repair occurs approximately six hours before an exacerbation event. Out of norm cough increase event occurrences are texted to the patients care community cell phones so they can act before airways close or are damaged. Quvium UK Limited has secured initial investment, established its world headquarters in Kent UK, completed clinical studies for initial market launch and hired key development personnel. After additional investment this year, Quvium will finish key hires for initial market launch of Sonasure in early 2018.

Asthma Signals Inc. offers an early warning signal solution for children with asthma keeping them (and their parents) out of the Emergency Room (ER). We achieve this by providing simple recommendations to mitigate asthma triggers 8 to 72 hours prior to a likely acute asthmatic event. The Asthma Signals solution connects the child, parents and care providers to these actionable recommendations through the Internet and mobile phone networks. This solution is enabled by simple interfaces to an intelligent rules engine leveraging predictive models that anticipate trigger burden based upon wide array of passively collected inputs.

This position is responsible for computing support of scientific applications, laboratory technology, bioinformtics, and application development in support of approximately 800 research scientists in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Experimental Therapies, Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism, and Toxicology research.
