The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports to the President and acts as the chief financial spokesperson of the organization. The CFO plans, directs, and controls all fiscal activates, develops budgets and forecasts, oversees financial audits, prepares financial reports, serves as a member of the executive team, and supervises accounting staff. The CFO establishes financial operating strategies and policies, maintain systems of internal controls, serve as the financial liaison with the Board Finance and Executive Committees, serve as the investment manager, and is responsible for all fiscal reporting activities.

• Oversaw finances, HR, internal IT, and facilities management for a consolidated entity totaling $60M in revenues with 160 employees in three states. • Coordinated a merger among subsidiaries that resulted in recurring tax savings of $1M..• Reviewed internal processes and made changes in resulting in over $250k in recurring annual savings. • Developed a “Board Resource Center” that provided information to the Boards in an interactive IPad format. • Managed an investment portfolio in excess of $50M.

• Reviewed accounting processes, implemented changes, and improved the quality of internal workpapers which led to an external audit going from 6 weeks in the year prior to my arrival to under three weeks within two years. This later resulted with lower negotiated audit fees.• Revised Audit and Finance Committee Charters to parallel public entity Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.• Established a corporate investment policy. Investments have increased from $0 to over $4,500,000.• Directed a streamlined budget, projection, and analytical review process of key financial data allowing for improved financial performance.• Implemented a grants management system within the Chamber, resulting in zero A-133 findings, and a recommended best practice in sub-recipient monitoring from a DOL auditor.

• Represented five not for profit organizations with combined revenues exceeding $75M.• Negotiated budgets with representatives of six different counties in North Carolina, five counties in Oregon, and seven counties in Michigan.• Testified at a Senate hearing in Lansing Michigan regarding the negative impact of a budget proposal on Mental Health Services in the State of Michigan. • Recommended financially prudent, but emotionally difficult program terminations that resulted in keeping an organization solvent.
