Sr Technical Specialist/Technical Manager: Primarily responsible for the technical leadership of multi-discipline engineering teams in a Project Engineering role. Projects generally include the design of remotely operated equipment and facilities in radiologically or chemically hazardous work environments.

Mechanical Engineer. Perform a technical leadership role for activities surrounding the development of the remote methods, fixtures, and tooling required for the installation, and refueling of the NuScale Power reactor module. Includes the development of functional and design criteria, as well as the detailed design, testing, and manufacture of the equipment. This requires close coordination with the NSSS design team and operations to ensure corporate refueling outage duration objectives are achieved.Continue to serve as a contributing member to the ASTM C26.14 Remote Systems Standards sub-committee, as well as an ANS executive committee member of the Robotics and RemoteSystems Division.

Sr Technical Specialist/Technical Manager: Primarily responsible for the technical leadership of multi-discipline engineering teams in a Project Engineering role. Projects generally include the design of remotely operated equipment and facilities in radiologically or chemically hazardous work environments. Recent work has been focused on the production of medical isotopes, post irradiation examination and nuclear waste processing hot cells. Typically the scope of work will include the development of a design basis, design, and follow-on engineering activities during fabrication/construction, and commissioning. Project costs range from 150 million dollars or less, performed in both domestic and international locations.Additional responsibilities include the preparation of proposals, providing technical insight and advice to corporate management, as well as serving as a contributing member to the ASTM C26.14 Remote Systems Standards sub-committee.

On loan to BNFL for the design of a system used for spent fuel retrieval, washing, and inspection prior to loading into dry storage containers. The process was used for the removal of the spent fuel from Hanford's KE and KW spent fuel pools, with all equipment designed for submersed remote operation. My primary responsibility was the design of material handling equipment for the spent nuclear fuel.

Principal Engineer: After completing my BSME, I moved to an engineering position in Westinghouse's centralized engineering organization (previously the Engineering Research and Development Laboratories). This afforded me the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects ranging from reactor safety system component seismic qualification, to a leadership role in the design of space flight equipment, including equipment used in support of the Cassini mission to Saturn. Technical Instructor: Prior to completion of my degree I was promoted from millwright to Technical Instructor, responsible for the development and presentation of classroom and field instruction for craftsmen and engineering staff. Areas of instruction included Hoisting and Rigging, Crane Inspection, Industrial Hydraulics, as well as specialized training for reactor specific tasks and maintenance outage support. Millwright: In my 15 years at Westinghouse Hanford I was initially employed fulltime as a Journeyman Millwright, while attending school at night to get my engineering degree. As a millwright I was responsible for the precision installation and repair of process equipment used for nuclear fuels fabrication, reactor operations (including reactor safety systems), spent fuel packaging equipment, and power generation. Several years were spent in an engineering development laboratory fabricating and testing custom tooling and process skids prior to their deployment in the field.
