As Executive Director, I coordinated three major initiatives. The first was a Cross-Cultural Engagement program for college students who study abroad. The program consisted of three separate credit-bearing courses: pre-departure, while-abroad, and re-entry. I coordinated the CCE program overall and also taught each course multiple times. The program also included the "Enhance Your Global Mindset" speaker series. The second initiative consisted of faculty development efforts, working to assist Wake Forest faculty in their international and intercultural professional development. As part of this effort, I led the development of a regional workshop (Workshop for Intercultural Skills Enhancement) and then turned it into an award-winning national conference (called the WISE Conference) focusing on supporting faculty who lead study abroad programs and want to incorporate intercultural learning and development in their programs. I also coordinated a faculty international development process, served as adviser for the Fulbright program for faculty and staff, and supported an innovative collaborative international research group.Third, I coordinated support for crises that occurred overseas and that affected Wake Forest University students, faculty and staff. In addition, I taught courses in the Wake Forest Department of History.Recent publications:Preparing to Study Abroad: Learning to Cross Cultures (Stylus, 2014)
