Engineering work term student with Canada Fluorspar Inc. (CFI) on the development of the AGS Project. During my second term with CFI in gain valuable plant construction, commissioning, and start up experience. I continued to serve a minor drafting role when required, revised engineering drawings, updated project documentation and began to produce design work under the supervision of the Project Manager and Metallurgist. I also began dealing with a greater number of vendors directly and fielded various technical queries. During this second term with CFI, I gained a great deal of field experience serving at times as a fill in operator to assist with mill start up activities. My responsibilities also grew substantially, being tasked with overseeing the redesign of the mill feed chute and the change over of the DMS plant screen decks.

Engineering work term student with Canada Fluorspar Inc. (CFI) on the development of the AGS Project. During my time with CFI I was heavily involved in various engineering activities including piping layout review, valve schedule review, instrumentation specification, and engineering drawing updates. While under the guidance of the Project Engineer and Metallurgist I assisted in pipe routing changes and verifying plant model with engineering drawings. I also acted as liaison with the instrumentation vendor and was responsible for the review of instrumentation specifications under the supervision of the Project Engineer. In addition, I generated a preliminary piping BOM and developed valve and line lists for the entire plant design. Lastly, I filled the role of draftsperson for updating various drawings such as P&IDs as well as generating concept designs to provide to vendors for bids.

Engineering work term student with the Lower Churchill Project - Ready for Operations team. During my second term as part of the Ready for Operations team I continued many of my previous duties while expanding my scope with greater responsibilities. Such responsibilities included the review of contractor inspection and test plans, mechanical checklists, and other contractor generated completions documentation. In addition, I performed risk assessment for the Ready for Operation Team and identified appropriate mitigations while under the direction of the Ready for Operation Manager. During this second term with the project team, I was also able to complete the development of the project completions execution plan. As well, I further assisted with management and further development of the project completion system.

During my time as part of the Ready for Operations team I was engaged in all aspects of planning, preparation, and execution of the completions process. I liaised with various members of the project team, from varying disciplines, learning about individual components of the mega project and how they were linked together. I was also heavily involved in generating official completions documentation templates and process flows under the guidance of the Ready for Operations Manager. I was also responsible for working on the development of the project's completions execution plan, while coordinating with various groups within the project team. In addition, I assisted in carrying out completions documentation and managing project completion system (database) under the direction of the project completion system Coordinator.

During my time with the division I was involved in Commissioning documentation, Commissioning activities, project accounting, and capital project reporting. The work term was centered around the division's focus on LEED implementation for all capital works.

I worked as a tutor with the Cahill Engineering One Help Centre at Memorial's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science during my third academic term in the Mechanical Engineering program. The position involved scheduled tutoring at the help centre where first year Engineering students can go for help with course work. I also assisted the weekly tutorials for the Engineering Statics course and provided dedicated tutorials leading into mid-terms and exams.

The work term was primarily focused with assuring all appropriate updates were made to the materials testing performed by the Division. this included compiling updates to testing standards, performing the tests, and applying the updates to the in-house procedure manuals. The position also involved regular data entry of materials test results, maintenance of the test result database, and data analysis. While at Materials Engineering I also contributed to the updates the calibration test records for testing equipment and materials test excel workbooks.
