Steve has 50 years experience in the professional laundry industry as a product development scientist and marketing executive. During his years with Gurtler and Ecolab and he has developed and brought to market numerous institutional and industrial laundry detergents and specialty chemicals. At Gurtler Steve and his staff are responsible for new product development, corporate quality assurance, product maintenance, and field technical service support.Steve is one of the founding members of the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) and has served as the Vice Chairman of the organization. The HLAC has developed a standard for processing healthcare textiles which was developed by a panel of industry experts with input from laundry professionals, healthcare administrators, end-users and government officials. In 2006 HLAC began to provide an inspection and accreditation process that recognizes those laundries seeking accreditation on a voluntary basis.Currently the Secretary of the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA), an organization dedicated to the promotion of the appreciation of reusable textiles, Steve served as the President of ARTA for 4 years. Steve was a founding member of the Healthcare Committee of TRSA, the Textile Rental Services Association. In 2012-2014 Steve was the chair of the TRSA Education Committee. This committee is responsible for PMI (Production Management Institute) and other training initiatives of TRSA. Over the years Steve has been a key presenter at numerous industry seminars and conferences focusing on the technology of laundering. Most recently he presented at the 2020 ARTA Educational Conference and the 2019 TRSA Annual Healthcare Laundry Conference. He has published numerous articles on a wide variety of laundering technology in industry publications, such as Textile Rental, Industrial Launderer, Laundry Today and American Laundry News.
