This is the story of how education saved my life...I was never too fond of school. Although I never dropped out, when it came time to apply for university, I wasn't accepted. The following year I did a 6 month diploma in Radio Broadcasting, which afterwards I was jobless so spent some time on the benefit. I knew I was better than that so I applied again for university. Wasn't accepted. I got a short-term job but within not too long I was back on the benefit. One last time, I would give uni a shot.Third times a charm, accepted!AUT - Bachelor of Communication Studies. For the first time in my life I felt like a nerd! Couldn't remember enjoying being educated so much. It felt good. University also opened a whole lot of opportunities for me that I grasped with both hands. In my second year I became a one-to-one tutor and mentor for year one students. In my third year I became a student ambassador for AUT.I majored in Television production and got the dream job straight out of uni. Working with Sky TV for the Sochi Winter Olympics, score!After the winter Olympics when the work dried up, I was drawn back to what I was passionate about all along. Education.I took up a teaching contract in China and have never looked back. I currently live in Dublin doing something I love, empowering students, young and old to do their best.The classroom is the last place for mundanity where imagination is equal to knowledge. Content should be engaging for the students and a positive and encouraging classroom environment is paramount.How do I know? Because I was the guy who never liked school. Now look where I am.
