Working as a member of EUSA’s security team I was employed to primarily ensure the safety and enjoyment of customers whist they visited the EUSA’s bars and clubs. This was a challenging but extremely rewarding role, especially due to the incipience of the world-renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe: of which EUSA was one of the major Fringe venues. Additionally, I was able to engage and supervise new students arriving at Edinburgh University for their Welcome Week.

During my time overseas, I was employed as a laboratory demonstrator where a group of 1st-year students were placed in my charge. My responsibilities involved providing instruction to my students in laboratory-based practical activities, up-keeping safety and good-practice within the laboratory environment, and marking laboratory reports. In addition to this, I was also invited to mark examination papers on several occasions.

Acting as a customer advisor, my job was to serve customers in a helpful and effective manner; good customer satisfaction was always the priority. In this role, I commonly handled money and saleable stock. The latter of which was my primary focus near the end of my employment as I acted as stockroom/delivery assistant. Here, I ensured that customer’s orders were fulfilled and that the store could continue operating successfully by replenishing stocked items.
