I am a full-time faculty member in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and a Pediatric Endocrinologist with a clinical research interest in pediatric diabetes and obesity. I was previously the Division Chief and Fellowship Program Director in the Endocrine Division of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2004, I was recruited to direct the Diabetes Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in light of my experience with diabetes program development, having established an American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognized diabetes program in SC. I was appointed Associate Professor at Penn due to my reputation for garnering extramural support for my diabetes and obesity research, as well as the publication of my findings. I have been at Penn since that time and in 2020 I enrolled in a Masters program at the Penn Carey School of Law to pursue my interest in understanding the legal and public policy aspects of medicine, and medical research in particular.
