As a tier three manager I had substantial financial delegation and decision-making ability. There was also additional exposure to the wider organisation of Council including elected members. This position was pivotal in delivering regulatory leadership in the district, with a Building Team of up to 14 direct reports. I also provided direct technical leadership in both processing and inspections to the BCA (R3/C2 Competency).My position description is extensive, and I enjoy seeing positive outcomes internally and externally because of my work. I was responsible for ten direct reports and financial delegation across a building consent authority, compliance team and administration team. The role was challenging as Masterton had to make improvements while maintaining an existing level of service with restricted resources. The role also included the challenges of managing people through a pandemic.

As building control team leader I am responsible for administering the Building Act within a small but highly capable Building Consent Authority. Optimisation, Technical Support to production, Project Management, Health and SafetyResponsibilities• Providing project management support to capital expenditure projects, ensuring that projects were delivered to the desired specification, keeping records and reporting to management as required.• Providing daily support to production by maintaining the machine control infrastructure and tuning software to provide optimised solutions.• Developing a practical health and safety culture, researching and developing robust systems in order to ensure compliance with the H&S at Work Act 2015.• Attending to technical issues at the other Kiwi Lumber mills in Dannevirke and Putaruru.• Attending senior management meetings on profit improvement and asset proposal to insure decisions are made with sound technical advice.• Assisting colleagues with professional development and training where required.

Delivering commercial and industrial scale fire protection solutions.Responsibilities• Managing the installs team whilst the installations manager was on leave or otherwise unavailable.• Development of programmes (MS Project) and work plans to ensure jobs will be adequately resourced.• On-site services co-ordination, delegation of tasks and project forecasting to high quality, compliant installations within the required time frame and budget. Leadership by physical example when required.• Providing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation and taking safety talks to promote safe culture and Wormald’s zero harm policy.• Attending contractual meetings and providing translation of trade jargon to ‘layman’s terms’ for clients and consultants.• Quoting for and enabling contract variations (up to $60k).• Preparing a monthly ‘cost to complete’ presentation for the contracts manager to assist with profit forecasting.• Attending third party inspections and following up remedial works.• Ensuring the company is protected from liability by writing succinct emails and keeping quality records.I was the sole project manager of numerous projects including;• Todd Park (Porirua) Tenancy fit outs (Approx. $600k in a 3 month delivery window)• The Mt Victoria Tunnel Deluge System (more than $1m contract value)• Fonterra Cool Stores 30-35 and Water Supply in Hawera (more than $2m contract value)• The Carterton Events Centre

At the conclusion of my second full year of study I was employed by Life Safety Services for a brief but successful period. My responsibilities were similar to the responsibilities at Wormald but with lower contract values (up to $250k)

Chinavasion is a large consumer electronics exporter based in the city of Shenzhen on the southern coast of China. As catalogue manager I was directly responsible for the output of two Chinese colleagues, a photographer and a graphic designer. I also provided sound technical advice and testing where required.English communication was limited so I had to produce clear, simple instructions, exercise patience and encourage my staff where necessary.

My service career spans just over 9 years, during this time, I worked with different units throughout the New Zealand Defence Force. My job as a technician involved maintenance and repair of a vast array of civilian and military electronics and optical instruments. Undoubtedly the highlight of my army career was an operational tour to Afghanistan for 7 months in 2004.
