Monthly the various businesses reported to the Chairman and myself. I have been involved in various strategic deal negotiation and structuring, including that of Vrystaat Mielies, Costas Candles, Cradock Seed, Arasco (Suadi Arabia) and others. I have been involved in restructuring and turnaround efforts at Feedpro as well as setting administrative discipline throughout the group concerning operational efficiencies, cash flow management and reporting structures. I have also been project leader/coordinator of the new project "Back to Basics" that deals with the evolution of the business from small environment to large business. I developed a vision, mission and core values for the group and presented it to the group at the annual group conference of about 300 people. This consisted of developing a value chain approach including supplying various inputs to farmer producers, own Commercial farming operations, Bulk Commodity Trading, Value adding manufacturing, and adding the latest dimension of FMCG trading. I have led several key projects in the pipeline up until I left such as the development of a grain Terminal in Durban harbour Afgri, Toepfer and Arasco.
