I'm delighted to work across our Asia & Middle East operations to drive international insurance and distribution success. SJP's unique model gives me the opportunity to work within a world-class regional management team. With a background spanning various sectors - from professional services, aviation, retail, and the not-for profit sector - I see commonalities in success more than differences. Continuous self-review, from the micro to the strategic level, aligned team-building and unfailingly independent judgement within finance are vital for an organization to thrive: an outlook I have brought to companies with six or with 6,000 employees. I aim to combine this with direct social impact, through volunteering activities around the world. These have included teaching and mentoring in various organizations; consulting with NGOs in Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya; producing theatrical spectacles for school and community groups in London and Hong Kong; and supporting local charity Boards in Hong Kong.

Reaction to the event was overwhelmingly positive : more than 90% of those surveyed felt that Walk21 Hong Kong would have a positive effect on society, and that it increased knowledge of walking and walkability issues for participants. -
Management ConsultantIcs Creating Change Sep 2014 - Nov 2014TanzaniaBusiness plan generation and operational review for regional office of an international Dutch non-profit. The organisation was obliged, by changes in the funding landscape, to consider a fundamental shift in business model in a direction in which they had no experience. I spent time with the management team in Amsterdam and the regional leaders in Kenya before building a detailed overview of the requirements and issues facing the local Tanzanian team during this transition.- Review of business case and market analysis for proposed changes- Clarification and consensus-building on strategic goals and priorities across the group- Diligence of proposed business plan and elevation of key concerns to Dutch leadership- Proposal of operational and management changes required to ensure delivery of the plan, including improvements to financial processes, 'quick win' cost savings, driver-based cost analysis and organisation structure / skills gapsAmongst other things, my review identified an incremental 48% of their cost base that had been omitted from the business plan and that management were then able to address in their new approach, as well as materially impacting expectations for break-even. -
