The Indiana Civil Rights Commission elected Mr. Steven Ramos to the positon of Chair of the Commission during the 2019-2020 year. Chair Ramos has been a dedicated and active member of the Commission since his appointment in August of 2005. Chair Ramos was elected, in part, because of his excellent background in corporate and small business employee relations, which gives him a unique perspective on employment law, as well as because of his robust experience in education, which affords him a deep appreciation for diversity. During the meeting, Chair Ramos also acknowledged that “times are changing…A lot of times the stigma out there in civil rights is often oriented around one demographic, and it’s not the case.” As a member of the Latino community, Chair Ramos remarked that the rights afforded for the Indiana Civil Rights Law and Indiana Fair Housing Act are for everyone, and that as Chair, he intends to ensure that the Commission is “here to serve all populations.”On the same date, the Commission also elected former Chair Slash to the position of Vice Chair. Vice Chair Slash stated that, “spending this past year as Chair has been a great experience for me.” Along with her past leadership on the Commission, her election was also the result of her important work as a diversity specialist in a 16,000 person organization where she routinely sees the real-world impact of Indiana’s Civil Rights Laws as applied by employers. As for the 2019-2020 year, Vice Chair Slash remarked that “I look forward to serving as your Vice Chair.”The Commission additionally extends a special thank you to Commissioner Harrington for her excellent service as Vice Chair during the 2018-2019 year.For the 2019-2020 year, Chair Ramos and Vice Chair Slash will lead the Commission in meeting its twin statutory missions of protecting individuals from unfounded claims of discrimination and eliminating discrimination.

I&D serves as Board members, executive leaders, consultants, educators and volunteers across America. I&D have additionally provided cultural immersion opportunities in North America,, Europe and Central America.In Indiana, I&D owns and operates the first of four new 16,000 square foot, Rainbow Station at Geist early childhood center in Fishers, Indiana. Rainbow Station (rebranding to be LeafSpring School) redefines early learning with advanced curriculum led by degreed teachers, chef directed nutrition, larger classroom sizes and onsite pediatric nursing care and parent guidance. As example we have 3 individual curriculum lessons plans for each of the 3 stages of infant development following the National Association of Educators of Young Children (NAEYC) and AdvancED standards. LeafSpring School where we bring out the best in every child. Where we are the Standard of Excellence in early learning education.

Served as strategic world wide liaison for IBM support and services representing more than 50% of IBM’s field force. Responsibilities included strategy / planning / deployment. Drove 7% increase in client satisfaction by driving research and business intelligence that lead to introducing new processes, tools, communications compensation plan elements that exceeded expectations, improving IBM’s competitiveness globally and move IBM to #1 ranking by our customers.97.3% satisfaction usage rating and a 10 fold increase in usage of productivity tools based on end user design and tool integration. Originally designed for 6,000 users but news of the ease and value spread across the world growing to 60,000 users and the creation of a business partner tool that is now growing 6% monthly.Saved $10M loss of monthly revenue by presenting a strong business case that required critical function and advanced application testing before massive world wide deployment of a new product configuration tool. Business case demonstrated risk of outage as well as limited web access across the world.Redesigned services client satisfaction survey and compensation by developing a standardized satisfaction survey, process and a new web based application across 160 countries consolidating over 80 tools to one, completing development, deployment and adoption in 18 months.Results are real-time allowing for improvement of client satisfaction and subsequent tracking / trends. Over 120,000 surveys annually.Multi-Billion dollar transformation leader for major shift to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) by consolidating, eliminating applications and developing/deploying Siebel. Currently developing SAP CRM for 2010-2012 deployment affecting 300,000 employees.Pioneered competitive ranking while improving client relationship by consolidating multiple relationship tools, streamlining the input process, providing ease of use and access world wide.

IBM World Wide Re-Engineering Partner / Strategy Manager – Indianapolis (1999-2005)Promoted to world wide HQ staff to pioneer new re-engineering and strategic program manager role. Notable Accomplishments: Lead technical sales support participation on the multi-million dollar acquisition of technology to replace our aging green screen applications. Group leader for acquisition methodology and subsequent development, deployment and adoption of new sales product configuration tools. This 3 year endeavor was fraught with technical problems and required my escalation to check force feeding of tools not ready. Visionary lead that developed business case to transform internal communications and support to web. Sales support was diversified with no common means for communication short of monster emailing. Built a global team to develop and deploy a world wide set of tools to deliver communications, provide rapid access to global tools, provide ease of connection to global resources in a timely and efficient manner. The tool(s) continues to be multi-million hit site now maintained global team in several languages. Pioneered re-engineering role replacing several hundred applications including call management, application management, opportunity management into new IBM technology. Develop world wide processes, training and tracking for global executives down to 1st line managers.

Promoted to lead Americas Software in pioneering the packaging of software with service to drive revenue and improve client satisfaction. Notable Accomplishments: Built new software services business that resulted in $167M the first year by enhancing the sales compensation plan, developing a team focused on services for software and working with services to packaged deliverables Innovative leadership that reduced attrition and grew Software revenue by developing of an aggressive technical sales compensation plan. Strong business case overturned IBM Human Resources ruling of compensation for the technical sales community. Results reduced attrition by 50%, grew revenues up to 5% and the compensation plan was adopted world wide across all brands. Developed a cross country resource guide to improve productivity by assisting the sales teams in getting to the right IBM resources quickly. Resource guide is still highly used and is a top tool in the sales tool kit. Transformed IBM services and lead the country with 167% attainment versus country average of 79% attainment. Far exceeded sales objectives year after year while transforming technical teams from free to fee beginning the services business that would ultimately become greater than 50% of IBM world wide revenues. Enhanced team base skill set to consulting in areas of availability, serviceability, project management, solutions implementation. Grew services during IBMs down turn of the 90s. Inititiated selling a solution by proposing IBM and non-IBM products to meet the customer needs. Our business became integration which drove services revenue and IBM landed a huge hospital contract. My team and I were highlighted in the first IBM Services Magazine

Implemented a national financial system, improved academics, replaced technology, and considerably reduced risk management.• Initiated a new model of membership looking not just at college but at pre-college and alumni. Appointed to serve as interim CEO with the mission to turn around a financial situation and instill confidence in the organization.• Revamped financial system, managed costs, drove sponsorships reversing a $2 million dollar loss to a $600,000 gain in 6 months.• Doubled MBA scholarships in 12 months to $2.1 Million by building linkages to top universities including Yale, Rice and UCLA.• Created an alliance between multiple Hispanic organizations to focus on education and community leadership working to improve society. The alliance provided pipelines of support, mentorship and cost savings through joint communications, marketing, events and conferences. Results increased memberships and increased enrollment in college education.• Strengthened the support of the Fortune 500 Corporate Advisory Board by changing the business focus to meet their needs. Each member provided a minimum of $30,000 and we worked together to develop a strategy and goals that we exceeded. This provide higher support in subsequent years and increased Hispanic hiring. • Reorganized NSHMBA by creating the NSHMBA Foundation and establishing NSHMBA Inc. as a 501 (c)(6).
