This was a chance to work with a colleague from a previous project, who was now the Order-to-Cash consulting lead. He was looking for someone to help with: requirements gathering, documentation, specification writing, and testing of the EDI interfaces. It was supposed to be a junior analyst role, but quickly developed into much more. I became the go-to resource both internally on the OTC team, as well as with the broader project team for interface/technical issues and problem-solving. I really enjoyed this project and had great working relationships with the team leads, solution managers, architects and even the CIO.

Our company was being acquired, which created a need to align our vendor contracts to the same valuation method being used by the acquiring company. While I didn't have any experience in this area, I was asked to step in and orchestrate the transition by organizing a cross-department team and communicating the steps to everyone involved. It was a highly synchronized activity that was viewed as a risk factor to the timely completion of the merger. Our team was able to complete the activity on schedule with no disruption to operations.

I was brought on full-time as an internal consultant with a directive to help guide the company along a path of implementing technology tools to improve internal IT processes. The vision was to adopt best-practices for running SAP by implementing SAP Solution Manager, with goals of: solution documentation, installing change control management, optimizing and automating testing, system monitoring, and eliminating custom code.

This was an opportunity to help a previous client enhance their supply chain solution by adding features of serial number and expiration date tracking and traceability. I worked closely with the procurement team on customizing the goods receipt process and respective interfaces.

I developed interfaces to critical information systems as part of a global SAP implementation project using SAP ABAP and Idoc technology for Materials Management and Sales Order processes.

I made the leap from the automotive industry to the field of IT consulting. At the time, I had no prior knowledge of SAP software, but was trained by the company and quickly assimilated skills in ABAP programming and Idoc interface technology. During my first tenure with Clarkston I was on three projects and developed programs and interfaces to critical data systems as part of large-scale SAP implementations at two pharmaceutical companies and a tier one automotive supplier.

I managed the development of several components with vendors, and coordinated validation testing to certify compliance to customer and industry standards. The best part of this role was being involved from design to production ramp-up, and launching the production line in Mexico.
