Profile bio

About Steven Barker

For the last 20+ years I have worked almost exclusively in the field of ITconsulting. That experience includes 12 projects working: independently, through a consulting firm, or direct with 10 clients. Projects have primarily been large 6-18 month engagements for global companies in the pharmaceutical, consumer products and manufacturing sectors. My expertise is rooted in programming and system integration, but I'm not limited to just technical roles. Understanding how to program allows me to interpret code on a granular level, and I'm often able to reverse-engineer processes or trace issues to their origin in data or configuration. What distinguishes me is my ability to work with technical content, but also relate to colleagues in business or executive roles. When I started my career, the world had just begun the Digital Age. Most companies were implementing client-server architecture in an attempt to migrate away from out-dated technology. The motive was cost savings and scalability. Much of that journey has been completed, and now the challenge is maximizing that capital and technology investment. We are entering the age of the Knowledge Economy where companies who can quickly harness the power of their information systems, will be at an advantage. My passion has been and continues to be guiding companies along their path of technology evolution. I'm able to contribute at many levels, from assisting a CIO in outlining a system strategy, to advising a subject matter expert on solutions to a gap in a business process. As technology evolves, so does my ability to add value and contribute to a team.Skills: SAP development, workflow, interfaces, SAP modules: SD, MM, WM, QM, PP, HR and FI/CO, SAP BusinessObjects, data analysis, application development, system implementation, process improvement, interface development, financial modeling, Excel, statistics/data modeling, SQL, R, big data architecture (Hadoop structures, in-memory appliances, cloud computing), HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript
