The Culture Services Department is made up of three teams whose work falls under the three pillars of our Legendary Culture—Recognition, Celebration, and Appreciation/Preservation. As the Culture Services Intern I supported all three teams and initiatives during the internship. Some examples of these projects and tasks are given below: Assisted with Culture Services events (Celebration). Duties included: assisted with the planning and executing of large Employee events (meetings, rallies, parties, etc.); helped with ordering, assembling, and shipping supplies; wrote blog posts and designed visuals for internal use; worked with outside vendors to order promotional items; worked with hotels and venues to secure rooms, meeting spaces, and food. Assisted with Culture-related correspondence (Recognition). Duties included: read, researched, and composed responses to Internal and External Customer compliments; communicated with groups of people via e-mail and phone; worked with Employees on various presentations; shipped out Employee recognition items/awards; and created various documents about the Company’s recognition efforts. Assisted with Southwest’s Universal Plan project (Preservation). Duties included: sorted, cataloged, and stored wall art and memorabilia; selected pieces for use in Employee common areas and conference rooms; researched Employee information to return personal memorabilia; and communicated across various departments and teams. Assisted with Culture Engagement projects (Appreciation). Duties included: responded to Culture-related Employee inquiries via e-mail, phone, and social media; prepared presentations and information on all Culture efforts; assisted with the planning and execution of appreciation events for our Employees in various cities; and helped measure various statistics for the Culture Department.
