An association professional experienced in generational change, social media, content management, cause marketing and PR, I am president of SCD Group Inc., a consulting company focused on strategy, content, cause and discovery and editor of the SCDdaily, a blog focused on association and nonprofit topics.A PR Hall of Famer, I focus on content marketing, bridging the generations presentations, social media and facilitating strategic planning.While owning Drake& Company (1992-2011), my staff and I successfully created and implemented the Trees for Troops cause-marketing program for the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx which provided more than 100,000 military families a free farm-grown Christmas tree. The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) awarded us its Summit Award for the Trees for Troops program of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation. In 1994, I received both the Silver Anvil and ARC's Founders Award for my work on The Monsanto Company's Rural Flood Relief efforts. My research-based presentations/discussions on “Bridging the Generations” to the Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA), the Finishing Contractors Association (FCA), Syngenta’s sales staff, the Finishing Industry Forum of the Labor Management Cooperation Initiative (LMCI), The Drake Forum for Association Leaders, Syngenta Business Institute and more.I’m a past president of the AMC Institute. I'm a 30-year member of ASAE. I served as a national director of the The Ohio State University Alumni Association. My public relations career spans 29 years in higher education and associations. Before starting my company, I served as deputy chief executive for a $46 million not-for-profit organization with membership, research and promotion operations in 12 countries, 30 states and Washington, D.C.
