An accomplished business executive with over 19 years of experience in energy, financial and information technology industries. Steven is currently Director, Risk, Performance, Resilience and Internal Audit at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) with responsibility for ERM program planning and operations. As Chief Audit Executive, Steven leads a team of professional senior internal auditors dedicated to modern objective-centric audit management approaches that drive certainty towards achievement of value creation. A key focus of his risk team is on optimizing alignment between corporate strategy and enterprise risk through applying a variety of risk assessment methods. Steven works in partnership with non-executive Directors and C-Suite leadership to ensure that IESO’s risk governance framework meets the needs of the Board. A committed leader on risk matters, Steven is a member of the pension management committee and chair of emergency response team. As a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team on 3rd party, insurance and contract risk, he contributes to advance major programs. Committed to supporting prevention of occupational injuries and illness, Steven is a certified member, under the OHSA, of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Steven is a graduate of Colorado State University (MBA) and holds an undergraduate management degree from University of Toronto (BA Hons.). Steven has attained the CRM designation from the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI) and is an accredited professional with both the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA).
