Steven is a Director in Pine Hill Group’s Financial Reporting and Accounting Advisory Practice where he partners with our clients’ management teams to develop, implement, and drive strategic plans that increase value to stakeholders. He is accomplished at identifying a company’s core metrics and working with their team to build key performance indicators and focus resources. During his career he has lead financial turnaround efforts, revitalized accounting and finance departments, and been part of the management team charged with developing a company’s long-term strategy. He has managed public and private companies’ internal and external reporting, as well as the divestiture and acquisition of companies: from pre-deal negotiation through post-closing integration.

Executive responsible for the finance, accounting and billing functions for the PA Market consisting of 13 businesses. Partner with the market area VP developing strategic and tactical plans to increase profitability. Worked on bids, acquisitions strategy, discussions, modeling, due-diligence through integration.

Steven started as a Division Controller in 2000 managing the finance, accounting, credit and collection departments for multiple companies in NJ. He was promoted several times within the company including a position in Canada as the Market Area Controller. During his tenure at Waste Management he had the opportunity to business partner with Senior District Managers and Area VP in various markets while heading the Finance and Accounting departments for the respective divisions. A few accomplishments were increasing revenues and EBIT, controlling costs, and creating strategic metrics for each business to obtain goals. Steven corrected accounting processes and Sox 404 in 2 separate instances to adhere to GAAP, FASB and WM policies. This was the case when he first joined and when he relocated to Canada. He also handled bids, acquisitions, divestiture strategies, modeling though integration, as well as Monthly, Quarterly, and Year End Business Reporting Packages.

Steven Managed the Finance & Accounting Departments for 5 companies in 4 states. He was responsible for SEC reporting, budgeting, forecasting, Insurances, banking relations, and external auditors. He created the companies first forecasting model, monthly business reporting packages, and five year strategic plan. Other accomplishments were crafting a cohesive bonus plans that aligned each function with the strategic plans, revenue increased from $23M to over $90M. Working with the insurance company and company VP of Operations instituted a work place safety plan which reduced injuries and costs. Developed and implemented metrics that increased revenue and EBIT by $2.5M and $590K respectively. Set new credit and collections policies lowering DSO and increasing working capital. Built relationships between the company’s’ finance, manufacturing, design, sales and marketing teams.
