About Steven Dorrestijn
Since march 2018 my function is Head of the research group Ethics and Technology at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. Before I was senior researcher Ethics and Technology at Saxion. Until 2014 I worked at the University of Twente, where I also completed my PhD thesis (The design of our own lives: Technical mediation and subjectivation after Michel Foucault). Previously I studied Philosophy in Paris and Philosophy and Mechanical Engineering in Twente. My research and publications focus on the philosophy and ethics of technology, Michel Foucault’s work on disciplinary power and self-care in relation to technology, and the integration of knowledge about the impact of technology in design tools (Product Impact Tool).
