Steven has been an independent artist since 2007 working with oil paints and other multimedia to create unique works of art all my own. Working from his home in Boston or a studio in Southern New Hampshire. To date, Steven has shown work in coffee shops, galleries, and museums along the East Coast. Steven teaches drawing, painting, and illustration and serves as a consultant for local non-profits by bringing a creative edge to their programming. We can absolutely change the world through art!

As an art teacher of BPS, Steven adhered to the Massachusetts Visual Arts Curriculum for every lesson designed. He enjoyed taking advantage of collaborations with other teachers to tie lessons in with theirs, reinforcing a child’s learning experience. With over four years of experience teaching within an urban setting, Steven continues inspiring future pupils through art. As a site director, Steven oversees summer programming for over four hundred students. His focus is program organization and development, food services, transportation, building resources, supervising all classroom practices/routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies..

Using his over thirty years as an avid comic book collector and budding historian, Steven continues to write articles on stories, events, and series primarily published in the '70s, '80s, and '90s.

Steven regularly assists teachers in identifying lesson/curriculum needs, and improving their knowledge and abilities with regular constructive criticism and feedback. Steven is actively problem solving and planning for program development while supervising all classroom practices - lesson plans, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies.

Working with the Outreach branch of the Education Department of the museum Steven was able to help bring art and culture to low income communities in a variety of educational and creative ways through various events and programs. Steven also assisted the regular staff of the Education desk, answering phones, emails, client requests, and aided students with class registration. Now, as a member of WAM Faculty, Steven has worked with children ages five to seventeen from various parts of the City of Worcester. His studio art multimedia classes are meant to enhance creativity, focus on positivity, and are based on a foundation of art history.

Steven did several things in and out of the classroom for ARCK. He assisted teachers in identifying their lesson/curriculum needs, and improving their knowledge and abilities with regular constructive criticism and feedback. Steven actively used abstract reasoning, problem solving, planning, and analytical skills for training, evaluation, and program development while supervising all classroom practices - lesson plans, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies. As the Program Coordinator, he oversaw the selection of materials and equipment needed in the classrooms, coordinates with the Executive Director in making purchases and maintain inventory of office and classroom materials. Steven also completed required reports to the Grantees in a timely and accurate manner. Lastly, he assisted in recruiting, interviewing and orienting teachers, interns and volunteers, providing them with guidance as needed.

As part of the Culture for Change program, Steven assumed the role of educator, artist, and activist. He worked with a group of 10-12 high school students to produce installations for Boston Asian: Youth Essential Service. Following an artist's process of ideas, research, trial & error, and execution, during the spring of 2013, the group and he created a large twenty-four foot "dragon" with a theme of empowering beyond racism. Y.E.S. and Steven presented the piece to the community at large with a formal opening night in late-June. Culture for Change was initially sponsored by both the Boston Foundation and Barr Foundation, but became an official Barr project as of June '13.

Besides teaching studio art and ceramic classes for Grades K-10, Steven had the pleasure of creating and implementing special events and programming for the New Art Center summer teen program. This included classes, field trips, and Friday night celebrations all focused on fine art making, building community spirit, and cultural awareness.

Steven worked with students K-12 from various parts of the City of Worcester. He taught visual art classes meant to enhance creativity, focus on positivity, and based on a foundation of art history.

Steven taught a morning Art elective and regular art classes for the Jewish Community Center's summer camp. I strove to create fun, creative, and exciting, lessons with a Jewish twist thrown in from time to time!
