With over a decade of experience as a K-12 school administrator, I am committed to creating educational systems that holistically support student development, particularly for those impacted by trauma and ADHD. Currently pursuing my doctorate in educational psychology, I combine practical experience with academic research to drive meaningful changes in student support and assessment practices.In my role as Assistant Principal at multiple schools, I have had the privilege of working with diverse student populations across various grade levels. My responsibilities span special education administration, program development, and leading initiatives that promote both academic and emotional resilience among students. During my tenure, I successfully managed the Summer School program at LEUSD, tailoring the curriculum to support credit-deficient students, training staff, and adapting to online learning demands while providing critical accommodations for students with special needs.As the author of “Supporting Children Through Trauma and Academic Challenges”, my work serves as a guide for educators and families alike, offering strategies to help children navigate challenging circumstances while sustaining academic growth. My personal experience as a foster and adoptive parent informs my perspective, allowing me to empathize deeply with families facing complex challenges.A major focus of my career has been on evolving traditional assessment methods to better reflect student learning and growth. I believe in alternative approaches to assessment that capture a broader scope of student abilities, providing teachers and administrators with actionable insights into student progress.
