The "Gold Country", as it is known because of the Great California Gold Rush, has long been producing wines, and is in fact one of the oldest wine producing (AVA) regions in the US. Amador is located between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe in the Sierra foothills and home to 50+ boutique wineries which embody the personal wine making traditions and unpretentious wine tasting experience for which California was once known.
