Co-Instructor for Business Innovation class ENTR:1020:0001, offered at the University of Iowa Kirkwood Regional CenterEngage students in interactive and hands on learning using the University of Iowa’s STEM Innovator® curriculum resources. Facilitate partnerships with business and industry partners and utilize STEM Innovator® Community Partnership Resources. Assist student teams in working alongside business and industry partners to identify and solve problems with data-driven decisions based on customer discovery feedback.

I designed a new curriculum to meet the format of the 9-week Summer Series (previously a traditional styled coding bootcamp). Including a twice weekly 4 hour teaching block. Co-instructor for a two week summer in-residence program through BBC called the Innovation Institute (2014 & 2015). Taught students the principles of innovation, entrepreneurship, and some technical web development skills.

I worked as a research assistant in a bioinformatics lab while working on my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Iowa.http://genome.uiowa.edu/clcg.htmlThe position involved a large amount of programming and problem solving in addition to genetics and biology research. I also gained a fair amount of experience with system administration and *nix systems during my employment in this position. I also developed technical grant and research paper writing skills from this position.

I worked as a computer tech for my High School after graduation. I worked seasonally during college breaks for a year.In this position, I installed and upgraded machines during the summer. I got a lot of exposure to old Macintosh's and Mac OS 9. I also worked a little bit with the network which was run by Mac Servers (this was way before the Xserve days though). I also troubleshooted and repaired problem computers and other computer devices. This job was a very good introduction to the world of IT.
