I worked with law students on less traditional career paths that led to the nonprofit, government, and business sectors.

Served as chief executive of 700-member county bar association, and chief executive of its charitable foundation. Managed budgetary and organizational planning functions, including strategic planning in partnership with the association's member-leaders. Presided over and drafted content for a ground-up redesign of LBA website. Launched successful charitable and social initiatives to renew member interest in LBA, resulting in membership gains.

Managed and administered the ABA's Resource Center for Access to Justice (ATJ) Initiatives. The Resource Center promotes the development of state-based ATJ Commissions, which are high-level collaborations between state high courts, the private bar, and civil legal aid providers. The Resource Center administers grant funding, promotes electronic and in-person communication among ATJ Commissions, and convenes the premier national conference focusing on ATJ Commission activity.In addition, served as assistant staff counsel to the ABA's Standing Committee on Pro Bono & Public Service.

Concentrated on the employment market for law students and lawyers who pursue public interest careers. Focused closely on the funding trends for nonprofit and government law offices, and on efforts to boost public interest lawyer salaries. Adminstered the PSJD - www.psjd.org - website. Edited the PSJD Blog. Worked on national survey distribution and analysis. Planned public-interest conference events for up to 150 people.

Coordinated a community economic development project, Philadelphia LawWorks, that provides free legal services to nonprofit organizations and and low-income Philadelphians with legal problems related to home-ownership.

Advocated for low-income persons and families experiencing problems receiving federal welfare benefits and Social Security. I secured this position through the auspices of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, which placed me with NJP for a one-year service term.
