I took a 13 month sabbatical, out of the city, visiting 31 countries with my young family.We explored Northern Europe into Scandinavia for 4 months, Australia, New Zealand and SE Asia for 5 months before a final 4 months in Southern Europe.I returned in August 2018.

I lead the financial derivatives business line for ICE. I was the lead executive for delivery of Libor transition for the ICE rates market, a multi year project which resulted in ICE being the first market to deliver RFR derivatives within the listed and cleared derivatives markets as a replacement for the historical Libor products.

As an advisor I lead the efforts that resulted in Archax becoming the first FCA-regulated digital securities exchange.Targeted at institutions, Archax also has its FCA brokerage, custody and cryptoasset permissions.

CurveGlobal was a new interest rate derivatives venture between London Stock Exchange Group and a number of leading dealer banks: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, BNP, Citi, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Société Générale, together with the Chicago Board Options Exchange. CurveGlobal's aim was to develop a competitive offering via London Stock Exchange plc’s derivatives market, which has Recognised Investment Exchange status, in the interest rate futures market.

CF10 and CF11 for two FCA regulated entities, I also managed the operations of a large proprietary trading firm active on several exchanges, dealing with all aspects of electronic and low latency trading.I was the lead in all external relationships with exchanges, clearing members, regulators and represented the firm at all levels of industry forums.I negotiated our relationships with new trading venues and was a founding member of FIA EPTA, an association of European proprietary trading firms.

Working in the Market Infrastructure area of the Markets Division I had responsibility for supervision of the UK exchanges, clearing houses and other market infrastructure providers; specifically I was the lead supervisor for LIFFE as well as the overseas arms of the Chicago exchanges. Within this role I was a member of the Euronext College of Regulators, including as Chairperson for the working party examining group risk. I was involved in all of the College working parties/committees, including those that gave approval for the merger with NYSE in 2007.As well as a direct relationship management role, I was required to provide wider expertise within the regulator and other competent authorities, especially on derivatives, undertaking market surveillance and contributing a market perspective to the development of policy and the implementation of European directives.The role also involved representing the market infrastructure department on the sector and cross-FSA working groups including increasing international understanding in areas of markets and regulatory developments.
