My responsibilities included serving as the primary legal counsel for the organization, handling all contract negotiation, and managing all litigation. The two major projects were leading regulatory affairs efforts to gain a favorable operating environment and leading a complete redesign of the Compliance, Internal Audit and Fraud Prevention departments. As in house counsel for both a trade group and subsidiary payment card service provider I negotiated and drafted contracts in areas including corporate transactions, software, and payment processing. I also served as a subject matter expert on financial institution compliance providing regular compliance training events and ongoing legal advice to more than 300 credit unions. Additionally, I worked as a part of the larger regulatory affairs team focused on legislative and regulatory advocacy at both the federal and state level. This small law firm served as both the in house legal department for, and also litigated on behalf of, a mid-sized regional bank with more than $2B in total assets. I litigated my own caseload of complex civil cases involving secured transactions, fiduciary obligations, fraudulent transfers, mechanics liens, real estate, bankruptcy and civil conspiracy with matters in dispute totaling more than $30MM in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. Additionally, I drafted contracts including secured transactions, leases, customer terms and conditions, marketing agreements, trust and land trust related documents. I provided legal advice to all levels of bank officers and employees as their in house counsel and served as a resource for regulatory compliance.

As a criminal prosecutor I charged, negotiated plea agreements and tried misdemeanor and felony cases including more than half a dozen jury trials as first chair and hundreds of bench trials and contested motion hearings. I rapidly built relationships throughout the criminal justice community that allowed me to negotiate agreed outcomes that served justice and all involved parties.

Served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable William Altenberger drafting opinions and conducting legal research. Also volunteered for additional assignments from the U.S. District Court and drafted numerous opinions on a variety of complex civil cases.

I served as Counterintelligence Special Agent receiving training and experience in all phases of human intelligence.
