I an presently director of a clinic providing mental health care for families in East Los Angeles and Montebello. I co-chaired a southeast-Los Angeles community project selecting Evidence Based Practice models for treating trauma in the Hispanic and immigrant communities. I have supervised a multi-disciplinary team treating chronically and severally mentally ill adults. As a clinician, I have also treated teen-agers on probation, helped developed gang prevention strategies, worked in medical as well as psychiatric emergency rooms, and supervised interns as a University of Southern California field instructor. As a clinical supervisor, I was also president of the American Federation of Federal, State and County Employees Local 3511, dealing with workforce issues and labor/management relations. In a previous career, I was the arts and entertainment editor, theater critic and columnist for the Antelope Valley Press. I also contributed theater reviews to Showmag.com.
