Senior Software Engineer
- Senior developer of Compumedics' world-wide, leading-edge EEG monitoring software. Deeply involved in all aspects of the software development process.- Main projects implemented in C++, Visual Studio environment - Digital Video recording/playback: Major re-write of the Digital Video software using DirectShow. - Interfacing with cameras from Sanyo, Vivotek, Sony, Panasonic, Bosch, JVC, Samsung, BlackMagic capture cards, Winov capture cards, etc Lots of experience with video codecs and real-time video (including h264, RTSP, & ONVIF standards) - Handling of massive amounts of video data (7+ days recording at Full HD) - Data manipulation (filtering, etc) of large data sets in real time. Up to 512 channels of data at 20kHz sample rate - UI design and implementation.- Implemented an online/mobile version of the EEG software using MVC framework with C#, HTML5 & JavaScript.- Responsible for maintaining and supporting the API used by researchers around the world to access data from the hardware.- Wrote the embedded firmware for Compumedics’ Oximeter device (C on an MSP430 chip). - Low power consumption was a very high priority- Debugged and enhanced the firmware on most of Compumedics’ hardware devices (including C in Code Composer, IAR Systems, C++ for embedded XP)- Excellent debugger – often called upon to track down bugs that others couldn’t fix. Including tracing them back to hardware design faults in some cases- Performed large efficiency improvements to reduce the load time of the software when running on large data sets. E.g. reduce single page load time from 600ms to under 100ms using a combination of parallel processing and memory management- Liaised with customers world-wide to address their needs and implement solutions.- Designed efficient systems for large data transfer across networks in a client/server architecture.
