Raised in a multicultural family in a multicultural city, language and the interconnectedness of people have always been important to me. In order to better help and understand patients throughout my 12 year career at a major national pharmacy I became fluent in several languages. Through international travel those language skills improved and became more diverse.Asset protection training and security practices were ongoing throughout my career in management. While abroad, especially when traveling alone, I started to exercise my own personal security measures. Wanting to help others in new ways, I decided to take what I learned over a decade and went into the security services industry.I've always been interested in cyber security. In high school I was responsible for refurbishing computers as well as setting up and implementing its network. Now, with a family of my own to protect, security, both physical and cyber, have become increasingly important and so I chose to take a more proactive approach.I am now a student in a cyber security program, focused on the aspects that interest me most- open source intelligence, ethical hacking, penetration testing and learning Python to write my own tools for those aforementioned purposes. The more I learn, the more certain I am that working in cyber security is what I'm meant to do- to keep others safe, regardless of physical boundaries, location or language.As I’m excited to begin my new career field, my ultimate goal is to work remotely from home. If this is not available right away, I am open to working within my hometown and statewide and can start fairly soon following realistic conversations about future growth and opportunities.
